Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovan Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti signed today in the White House, in the presence of US President Donald Trump, an agreement on the normalization of economic relations between Serbia and Kosovo.
Due to the delay with which the delegation from Pristina arrived, the signing of the agreement took place in the Oval Office and not in the room planned for the ceremony.
"Serbia and Kosovo have decided to normalize economic relations", said Trump, who expressed satisfaction with "the enormous progress" achieved in recent years since Kosovo's proclamation of independence.
The economic cooperation agreement between Belgrade and Pristina, mediated by the US administration, is reflected in Israel.
As part of the ongoing talks in Washington, President Trump has announced that Serbia - the first state on the European continent to do so - will move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem from July 2021.
And that Kosovo, a Balkan country with a Muslim majority, which will start relations with Israel, will do the same.
A double result immediately exalted by Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu who thanked the head of the White House over the phone for this new move which adds to the diplomatic successes with the Emirates and the opening of the skies of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain to Israel.
"Another result - said the premier paying homage to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovar Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti - in the efforts to expand Israeli diplomatic relations and recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel".
"This is the first European country - Netanyahu continued referring to Serbia - to open an embassy in Jerusalem".
"Kosovo - he added - will be the first Muslim majority state to open an embassy in Jerusalem".
