Tragic accident today on the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, while the annual joint training was underway between the Alpine Rescue of the Guardia di Finanza of Auronzo di Cadore (Belluno) and Cortina d'Ampezzo, and the Alpine and Speleological Rescue Veneto, of the Station of Auronzo.

During the helicopter transport operations, Sergio Francese, 55, who worked at the Sagf station in Cortina d'Ampezzo and Auronzo, lost his life.

The accident occurred during the boarding phases while the helicopter was in "hovering", ie in static flight, from the Pyramid ledge, an offshoot of the Cima Grande of the Dolomite massif.

On site, an emergency intervention should have been simulated with the lowering of the stretcher on the wall, transport with the Lecco system and experimentation with the telephone user localization system.

For reasons that will have to be ascertained by the investigations, however, at the moment of boarding the Frenchman he was hit by the rotor of the aircraft.

Immediate intervention by colleagues present on site, which was replaced by the medical staff of the Aiut Alpin Dolomites in Bolzano, who landed on the face.

Unfortunately, the resuscitation attempts were useless, and unfortunately it was only possible to ascertain the death of the financier.

The body was transported downstream, at the disposal of the judiciary.

Deep condolences of the Alpine and Speleological Rescue Veneto, first of all the president Rodolfo Selenati.

The messages of the Minister of Economy and Finance, Roberto Gualtieri, of the Minister of the Interior, Luciana Lamorgese and of the General Commander of the Guardia di Finanza, General CA Giuseppe Zafarana also reached the French family.

Lastly, Maurizio Dellantonio, national president of the Alpine and Speleological Rescue, also expressed deep condolences.
