The Ministry of Health of the Nation reported that this Sunday 6,986 new coronavirus infections were registered and 120 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.

In the morning report, 68 deaths were reported.

There are 34 men (26 from Buenos Aires; 2 from Chaco; 2 from La Rioja; 2 from Neuquén; 1 from Salta; 1 from Santa Fe) and 34 women (23 from Buenos Aires; 1 from Chaco; 7 in the City of Buenos Aires; 1 from La Rioja; 1 from Mendoza; 1 from Tierra del Fuego).

In the afternoon 52 new deaths were known.

28 men (11 from Buenos Aires; 3 from the City of Buenos Aires; 1 from Córdoba; 3 from Jujuy; 2 from Neuquén; 1 from Río Negro; 2 from Salta; 4 from Santa Fe; 1 from Santiago del Estero) and 24 women ( 9 from Buenos Aires; 1 from CABA; 4 from Córdoba; 1 from Entre Ríos; 2 from Jujuy; 1 from Río Negro; 6 from Santa Fe).

The Secretary for Access to Health, Carla Vizzotti, was in charge of reporting the updated figures of the pandemic in the country.

She indicated that the fatality rate is 2.1%, that there are 215 deaths per million inhabitants and that the average age of the fatal victims is 72.2 years.

"The daily average in the last seven days is 9,975," he added.

And he remarked that "we have not been able to interrupt community transmission in any of the areas" where there is community transmission, which are 18 in the country.

In total, 2,456 people are admitted to intensive care.

Thus, the percentage of bed occupancy is 61.7% nationwide and 67.7% in the metropolitan area, the most affected area in the country.

The official added that 340,381 people have already been discharged, of which 8,751 recovered on Saturday.

These patients represent 73.3% of the total.

On the other hand, Vizzotti highlighted the increase in tests carried out throughout the country, with 1,396,887 in total and 22,363 during Saturday.

With these figures, Argentina reached 30,784 tests per million inhabitants, with a positivity rate of 38.1%.

The official also spoke about the phrase of Alberto Fernández when he said that "the red button is always at hand because health is the most important thing," referring to an eventual return from strict quarantine due to the increase in cases.

Given this, Vizzotti said that "the red button is not something so simple after so long" since "society is going through different moments, not only emotional, but also economic and social."

"It is not so easy to make that decision and for that decision to be carried out," he emphasized in statements to Radio 10, where he also said that the Government seeks "to generate a diagnosis of the situation so that when we have to make the decision we have to make, really work. "

Finally, Vizzotti once again asked to respect the recommendations and protocols that vary not only by jurisdiction but by municipality: "We are going back to talking about care, the importance of knowing in our place of residence what the recommendations are, what the activities are authorized and how they are authorized to implement those activities, and what activities are still restricted. That depends on the local level, not just the jurisdiction. "
