Öko-Test found pesticides in many jams of the strawberry variety: Germany's best-known brand, of all places, was particularly negative in the test.
In
test
20 jams were tested
According to
Öko-Test
, pesticide pollution is high in many products
Product from popular manufacturer surprisingly in last place
Kassel
- Over 100,000 tons of
jam
and
jam
are sold in Germany every year.
Every German person eats almost 2 kilos of the sweet spread per year.
A not insignificant proportion of this is likely to be
strawberry jam
.
The consumer
magazine Öko-Test
has now tested 20 different strawberry spreads.
Test: "Strawberry jam" does not exist legally in Germany
But strawberry jams don't actually exist in Germany.
Because according to the Jam Ordinance in
Germany
only products made from citrus fruits are considered
jams
.
The regulation also stipulates that
jams
must contain 55% sugar.
According to the
Öko-Test,
eight of the spreads tested fall
into this category.
Test: Two thirds of the jams are too sweet
In Öko-Test, where charcoal was also tested *, the nutritional values of the
fruit spreads
were also
included.
Even if
jams
in general have a relatively healthy image, this is a fallacy.
Almost two thirds of the products tested had too high a sugar content.
One serving is enough to cover more than half of the recommended daily requirement of an adult.
Öko-Test
based this classification on the requirements of the
World Health Organization (WHO)
.

Test: "Germany's number 1" in last place - pesticide alarm
The result of
Öko-Test
should hit customers of the "Schwartau Samt" brand particularly deeply.
Because although the
spread
advertises to be "Germany's No. 1", it only came last in the test.
Even its
50%
fruit content
could not save it.
Because, according to the Öko-Test, it was too exposed to pesticides.
However, this was not the only pesticide-contaminated spread in the test.
Test: Over half of the spreads were contaminated with pesticides
More than half of the products tested showed such a burden.
One of the spreads tested even had 6 different pesticide residues.
Even if all detected pesticide residues are below the legally stipulated limit values, they are
still questionable
according to the
Öko-Test
.
The limit values always relate to individual active substances and not to their interaction.
According to
Öko-Test
,
organic fruit spreads should
generally contain fewer pesticides than conventional spreads.
For a higher fruit content, according to the
Öko-Test
,
it is advisable
to consume products called fruit spreads.
Test: These were among the best jams in the eco test
The consumer
magazine Öko-Test
rated the following spreads as "very good":
Rewe organic strawberries
Zwergwiese fruit garden strawberry
Demeter "Die Beerenbauern" strawberry
These jams made it into the "Good" category in the Öko-Test:
Strawberry happiness
Landliebe Strawberry Jam
Bonne Maman strawberry jam
Edeka "Fine Fruit Mousse" strawberry
Alnatura strawberry fruit spread
Test: Öko-Test rated these muesli bars as "Good"
The consumer magazine Öko-Test recently also took a close look at muesli bars *.
Some of them had too much sugar.
Coconut products are currently very popular with many end consumers.
Öko-Test tested coconut oil and coconut milk *.
Similar to the jams, an increased level of pollution was found in some.
Video: These deodorants failed Öko-Test
Stiftung Warentest recently took a close look at video chat programs *.
Problems with data protection were particularly apparent.
Stiftung Warentest also put online banking apps * to the test.
However, they were only able to rate four of the 38 apps tested as good.
The topic of car sharing is becoming more and more important in many cities.
Stiftung Warentest has now tested car sharing via app *.
Öko-Test: Many pestos fail * - even test winners only "satisfactory"
Water in the test: Öko-Test examined different types of mineral water.
Some brands fail with high levels of uranium, nitrite and boron.
Öko-Test has tested sun cream for children.
Some popular brands fail.
Including L'Oreal.
A private drug store brand is convincing.
In the test: Öko-Test examined fish.
The test was limited to fish fingers, however.
One popular brand surprisingly fared poorly.
Öko-Test tested applesauce and apple pulp.
An applesauce was so contaminated with pesticides that it had to be taken off the market.
