The Swedish-British laboratory

AstraZeneca

and the University of Oxford suspended the phase 3 trial of their coronavirus vaccine in the United States due to the suspicion of a serious reaction in a participant in the United Kingdom.

It is the vaccine that the national government announced that it will be produced in Argentina for distribution throughout Latin America, except Brazil.

An AstraZeneca spokesperson said the company's "standard review process caused

a pause

to allow review of safety data."

No details were specified of the effects it had on this person, although specialized medical sites described it as a

"serious adverse reaction."

From the laboratory they qualified this suspension as "a routine action that must happen whenever there is a potentially unexplained disease, while it is investigated".

They also noted that the company is "working to accelerate the review of the single event to minimize any potential impact on the testing schedule."
