While the Minister of Health Olivier Véran announced that rapid screening tests for the coronavirus, known as “antigenic tests”, will begin to be deployed this week, the number of new contaminations remains at a very high level.
According to data released by the Directorate General of Health, 6,544 new coronavirus contaminations have been identified.
In comparison, the DGS had recorded 4,982 cases last Tuesday, 8,975 new infections on Friday, 8,550 cases on Saturday and 7,071 cases on Monday.

Public Health France also counts 612 clusters under investigation, including 91 since Monday.
The test positivity rate continues to rise.
It was 5.2% on average between August 30 and September 5, down from 4.3% a week earlier.

In one day, 490 patients had to be admitted to hospital, bringing the number of people hospitalized to 4,960.
Over the last seven days, 2,088 new admissions were counted.
In intensive care, the number of patients is also increasing, with 86 new patients treated since Monday in these services dedicated to the most serious cases.
A total of 574 patients are currently in intensive care, or 37 additional patients in 24 hours.
