Peinture-Monde, upside down 2020
, commissioned by the theater in partnership with the National Museum of Modern Art at the Center Pompidou (the first has the usufruct, the second holds the property ).
On a mat black background, Fromanger's characters are always monochrome silhouettes, from emerald green to frank red, from golden yellow to pop orange.
But they embody contemporary life, from streamlined strollers to ubiquitous cell phones, Vélib 'to scooters.
This acrylic painting covers 25 m2, i.e. 435 cm wide and 564 cm long.
“Made just before and during confinement,”
it was a technical feat for the artist who, after overcoming cancer and chemotherapy, breathes life with just one lung.
A fierce optimist, he laughs and smiles easily.
