After the corona outbreak in a restaurant in East Frisia, numerous people were infected with Sars-CoV-2 in May.

Now the police and the public prosecutor's office are investigating the suspicion of negligent homicide.

Everyone present at the time should be questioned, said a spokeswoman for the Aurich public prosecutor's office.

She did not mention the name of the restaurant in Lower Saxony.

More than 30 of 50 guests were infected at a celebration there, two of those infected died later.

The suspicion is directed against unknown, said the spokeswoman.

"At the moment we only have witnesses who will be questioned. We have no accused."

Police should reconstruct the course of the evening

One possibility of culpable behavior is if someone went to the celebration even though he was already showing suspicious symptoms.

The police should reconstruct the course of the evening as precisely as possible, she said.

As far as we know from May, three guests had shown symptoms before the evening that indicated Covid 19 disease.

Because of the corona outbreak in the closed society, around 200 people were quarantined, including employees of the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg.

The restaurant operator emphasizes that he has always followed all hygiene guidelines with regard to the corona virus.
