First he actuates the emergency release, then he sets fire to the platform and in the train: A 56-year-old caused chaos at the train station in Grafing, Upper Bavaria, and seriously injured himself.
According to their own statements, the police initially led him out of an S-Bahn after he had operated the emergency release for no reason.
Shortly afterwards, on Monday evening, he lit a trash can on the platform to warm his hands.
A train driver put out the fire together with a dispatcher.
At the same time, two men informed the railway employees that someone had set fire to a regional train.
When the driver came back to the train, smoke was already coming out of the door.
The 56-year-old had set fire to a seat cover and his own shirt.
He burned himself several times on his upper body, his shirt still glowing on the floor.
Both the federal and state police were on duty.
The man was taken to a Munich clinic.
Because of the third-degree burn injuries, he is due to have an operation in the coming days.
He has to answer for damage to property.
The man from the Salzkammergut told the police that he had ended drug withdrawal in Nuremberg and consumed cannabis and speed shortly before the crime.
