Coronavirus in France: nearly 600 patients in intensive care and 30 new deaths

The number of new contaminations recorded in the last 24 hours is one of the highest since the start of deconfinement.

This Wednesday, the Directorate General of Health (DGS) recorded 8,577 new Covid-19 infections over the last 24 hours.

Tuesday, 6,544 new contaminations were identified, and 7,071 had been Monday.

The test positivity rate continues to increase, to 5.2%, against 4.3% in the week of August 4 to 30, a record recorded seven days ago.

According to Public Health France, 71 clusters have been identified in the past 24 hours.

A total of 644 are under investigation.

Strong progress in intensive care

Regarding deaths, the Directorate General of Health counted 30 more this Wednesday, all occurring in hospitals, bringing the total of deaths to 30,794, including 20,319 in hospitals and 10,475 in establishments. medico-social, including nursing homes.

5,003 people are hospitalized as a result of a Covid-19 infection, including 599 in intensive care, or 109 more than Tuesday (490).
