From telecom networks to prime time.

After nine years at Bouygues Telecom, Didier Casas is swapping his chair as secretary general and spokesperson for Bouygues Telecom for that of secretary general for TF1.

He succeeds Jean-Michel Counillon, now a young retiree.

At just fifty years old, Didier Casas symbolizes this rising generation in the Bouygues group.

Enarque, State Councilor, reserve officer, rescuer, baroque music lover and father of three children, his arrival at TF1 adds a new string to his bow.

After starting his career as a parliamentary assistant, he was Government Commissioner to the Litigation Assembly.

In 2008, he joined the Management Committee of Dexia Crédit Local, before joining the Bouygues house, three years later.

The man in the shadows is propelled onto the front of the stage, donning the costume of president of the French Telecoms Federation.

A rotating presidency which has earned him the role of the sector twice in the past five years.

It tackles the major challenges of the sector head-on, among them the battle against the major content platforms or the regulation of the optical fiber market.

A position that allowed him to exercise his diplomatic skills, during the attempt to consolidate the sector in 2018: he was both president of the Federation and general secretary of Bouygues Telecom, then in full negotiations with Orange.

The operation will not succeed, But Didier Casas keeps in mind this complicated period.

Emmanuel Macron's campaign

In 2017, he put his career at Bouygues Telecom on hold to join Emmanuel Macron's campaign team.

His name had circulated several times during ministerial reshuffles, none seeing him as secretary general of the Elysee, others, as in 2018, at the Ministry of Defense.

This six-month political parenthesis had "amused him a lot", he has now closed it.

He has other priorities.

His appointment to TF1 will give him the opportunity to perfect his knowledge of the Bouygues Group.

Close to Olivier Roussat, CEO of the Bouygues group and right-hand man of Martin Bouygues, Didier Casas could one day join him at the Bouygues Group.

But until then, he has one last case to close in telecoms.

Indeed, his arrival at TF1, initially scheduled for September 1, was postponed by a few weeks, due to the 5G license allocation schedule.

Then, place in Koh Lanta.
