Several members of the Heidelberg fraternity Normannia are targeted by the public prosecutor after an apparently anti-Semitic incident.

Now the connection has responded to the allegations with an admission.

It says there is no tolerance for anti-Semitism.

According to the prosecutor, the incident occurred at the end of August.

After the visitor to a celebration said that he had Jewish ancestors, several fraternity members allegedly beat him on the legs and on the back with belts.

They are also said to have pelted him with coins and abused him anti-Semitically.

The police and the public prosecutor are investigating seven men and one woman for dangerous physical harm and insult.

Internal consequences

The Normannia fraternity declared that it cooperated "fully" with the authorities.

If the allegations against individual members are confirmed, internal consequences will also be drawn.

After knowing the allegations, it was decided to dissolve Aktivitas.

These are the members who are still studying.

The fraternity still exists, however, the members who have completed their studies are called "old men".

According to its own information, the fraternity "Normannia" has existed since 1890. According to the "Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung", its members include AfD politician Christian Wirth and the author of "Junge Freiheit" Michael Kurt Paulwitz, who is responsible for the far right Republicans ran.
