After the fire, the crypt in the forecourt of Notre-Dame had closed.
For its reopening, an exhibition recounts the rescue of the cathedral in the 19th century.
The team of curators led by Valérie Guillaume, director of the Carnavalet Museum, to which the crypt is attached, has chosen to focus on this nineteenth century that some wanted to sweep away with the back of a hand claiming to restore a hypothetical medieval state or endow Notre-Dame with an arrow in the shape of a “contemporary gesture”.
Notre-Dame de Paris is also a masterpiece of the 19th century, this very educational and well-designed course demonstrates it.
