You rarely need your social security card in everyday life.

If you lose it, you should apply for a new one as soon as possible.

Read the tips here.

Every employee receives it automatically as soon as they start working: a

social security card

.

Insured

persons should handle

this document just as

carefully

as they would with their ID card.

Because from this

emerges

the

pension insurance company

with which employees are insured.

The document also contains the

first and last name

(and, if applicable, the maiden name) as well as an

insurance number

, which includes the

date of birth

from which the later retirement

date

is derived.

The personal data is also included as a QR code on the ID.

How to apply for a new social security card

What happens if you can't find your social security card?

This

insurance number is issued once,

so it remains valid for a lifetime.

In an emergency,

however,

the

social security card

can be replaced: If employees lose it, important data or the card is damaged, the pension insurance

agency can

issue

a

new

one

.

Or alternatively, in the event of loss, you can contact the health insurance company, which then

applies for

a new

social security number from

the pension insurance provider

.

In this case you have to reckon with a processing time of around six weeks, in some cases processing can take even longer.

The reissue is free of charge for you.

If you urgently need your social security number but do not have your ID ready, you can ask the health insurance company or contact the pension insurance company directly.

Alternatively, you can find the

social security number

, also known as the

pension insurance

number, on the

pension information

.

Check data on social security card

Another

piece of

advice

: It makes sense to carefully check your personal data at the beginning, according to the German pension insurance.

The correct information is a prerequisite for the contributions to be booked correctly from the beginning for the future pension.

What if the data is incorrect?

In that case, those affected should immediately request a correction with appropriate evidence.

Because only if all the information is correct, the contributions for the later pension will also be booked correctly from the beginning.

If

you have any questions about your

social security card

, the employees of

Deutsche Rentenversicherung

also help

in the information and advice centers and on the free service telephone on 0800 1000 4800.

Enough space for documents

If you want to keep an overview when sorting files, you should collect all of your personal documents in a special filing system or, even better, file them in thematically sorted folders.

Practical and space-saving for at home is a shelf with different folder heights (promotional link), where you can stow the documents and, if necessary, have quick access to all documents.
