The Mexican and her Simpsons embroideries that reach Singapore

2020-09-09T21:03:51.212Z

Gabriela Martínez learned to embroider thanks to her grandmother and now she combines it with her love for The Simpsons.

They say that for every moment in life there is a scene from The Simpsons.

The Bazar Bartiano account on Instagram, specialized in embroidering on the series, endorses this phrase that we have all used at some time.

Behind this work, done with such detail and very attached to the series, is Gabriela Martínez, a Mexican who lives in Aguascalientes and who combines her work as an administrative assistant with her other two passions, embroidery and The Simpsons.

“When I was little my grandmother taught me to cross stitch, then I learned to embroider.

When in 2015 I saw on social media that embroidery became fashionable again, I went back to what I knew and started making them for myself and my friends, then I started receiving orders and started selling them ”, says the 29-year-old.

With more than 85,000 followers on Instagram, Gabriela opens space for six orders every month.

Carrying out a scene like the ones that the Mexican woman recreates all by hand, on felt, involves an average of 30 hours of work and her designs cost between $ 90 and $ 300, depending on the details that she has to capture with the needle and thread.

Through networks, she has received orders in Mexico, but most of them are sent to the United States, Australia, France and Singapore.

Now with the pandemic, the young woman says she has more time to embroider and that orders have increased, so she takes the opportunity to embroider while watching a series or listening to a

podcast

after her office work.

"The people I get along with always have a love for the Simpsons in common," explains Gabriela.

"When someone asks me for an embroidery, they explain to me why they chose that scene or why they love a character," Martínez tells

Verne

by telephone.

She responds that her favorite character is Homer.

“I like it for its duality.

He is someone who many times only cares about himself, but then he teaches you that he has love for his family and for his work, although sometimes he also hates it.

He is a very human character, ”he says.

Gabriela Martínez remembers with special affection María del Carmen, her grandmother who taught her to embroider and who passed away a few weeks ago.

“I am happy because my grandmother came to see my embroidery, thanks to her I have an extra income with what I sell.

I will always be very grateful to him for everything he taught me ”.
