Since the shooting last fall, the presenter of "Koh-Lanta" had become very close to Bertrand-Kamal, the candidate of the game of TF1 d

“He is an extraordinary person!

"The day after the death of Bertrand-Kamal, Denis Brogniart still speaks in the present tense of this emblematic candidate of the new season of" Koh-Lanta ", broke by cancer.

Last Saturday, he returned to his bedside in Dijon hospital.

Very affected, the host of TF1 tells us about the relationship that binds them forever, but also evokes imitations "to die for laughter" of "Beka" replaying scenes of "Koh-Lanta".

After the announcement of Bertrand-Kamal's death, you wrote on Twitter that you were "devastated" ...

DENIS BROGNIART.

He was a type of the caliber of the very greats of “Koh-Lanta”: with charisma, interpersonal skills, humor, physical potential, an ability to adapt… There are not fifty. like him.

He also had a form of tolerance, with his dual culture.

Her dad is Moroccan, her mother Burgundian.

His sister is Catholic, he a Muslim.

This boy was already very endearing when he was in good health.

So the day I learned of her cancer, one of the most terrible, it completely turned me on.

Am devastated by the death of Bertrand-kamal last night.

He was 30 years old.

I knew him as an adventurer from Koh Lanta and loved him as a friend afterwards, a loved one with whom I shared so many special moments.

To the point of forging a very strong relationship ...

I have never experienced this with another adventurer.

For five months, we've had a daily relationship.

Even bi or tri-daily with his mother and father, incredible people.

Beka has become close.

He is the only candidate to have come to my house.

When you are naked, you are afraid to leave and you have to fight, you give up more.

Me too, by the way.

He called me big brother or uncle.

I saw him for the last time on Saturday and he didn't let go of my hand.

Just thinking about it, that to me… And when I left, he said to me: “Don't worry, I will be there at the final”.

Could we expect such an end?

If he did anything to hide it, he was in terrible pain.

But we tried to pamper him so that he could continue to hope.

Until his last exams, he believed in it.

He had the right mind, courage and dignity.

We wanted him so badly to be one of the 10% of people who got out of this crap.

Regardless of his treatment at the Dijon hospital, he was tremendously taken care of by the Gustave Roussy center in Villejuif (94), with a study of his genome and analyzes made in the United States.

He also benefited from an experimental treatment which, no doubt, allowed him to live a little longer.

Her story touches me so much.

I lost my father when I was young to cancer.

And I am a sponsor of the ARC Cancer Foundation.

Was he able to watch the first two episodes?

The first one, yes.

He had already seen it in preview, from home.

We organized a video conference this summer with all the candidates.

He had even disguised himself, with two black lines on his cheeks and his green bandana.

He had said to the others: “We don't talk about my illness, enjoy yourself”.

While that night he was not doing well and looked at the pictures in three times.

However, he could not see the second episode last Friday.

He no longer had the strength.

Are you going to edit sequences or make changes on the screen?

No.

I always said to his father: "Even if he leaves, there is not an image that will be changed".

Not one.

His career is so exceptional.

The Bertrand-Kamal that viewers see is him.

Over the course of the episodes, we will discover his sense of camaraderie and competition.

There is Claude

(Editor's note: the emblematic participant of last season)

in this boy.

He had it all.

Bertrand-Kamal also told me that whatever happens, he wanted “Koh-Lanta” to continue.

VIDEO.

Koh-Lanta: death of Bertrand-Kamal, adventurer of the 2020 season

Definitely, "Koh-Lanta" is not a show like the others ...

We lived full of emotions, but not that of the death of a candidate in full broadcast of a season.

"Koh-Lanta" is a photograph of life.

With its joys and its sorrows.

There, we are broke by cancer.

As happens to thousands of families shattered by disease.

But Bertrand-Kamal's cancer will be useful.

I am sure it will be useful.

Especially since associations are suffering from the drop in donations linked to Covid.

I would like to launch a "Cancerothon", as is done for the Telethon.

What has this ordeal changed in you?

I am a hypochondriac by nature.

Now, it made me even more aware of the notion of "carpe diem", of the need to take advantage of the present moments.

When the body starts to go wrong, it gets terrible.

Whether you are a candidate for "Koh-Lanta", successful singer or President of the Republic, it is the same for everyone.
