About the place:
Everyone talks about grasshoppers, and is not always aware of the fact that autumn heralds sometimes give their show as early as the beginning of July.
Apparently the image is stronger than reality, but it does not really matter - because it turns out that the pale, and a little crooked, rocks bring not a bad rating at all.
In fact, today there are already those who call themselves "rock hunters."
No floods, no woodland peonies.

So so that you too can enjoy the sights, this time we will send you to a lesser-known corner, which is hidden right on the edge of the Tel Aviv-Haifa road, on the outskirts of Atlit.
You have passed here countless times, but you are not sure that you knew that a cute little nature reserve is hiding here, which is called the "Horbat Karta Nature Reserve".
Why "Karta"?
No one knows.
Like many places in the country, the name "Karta" was born due to a mistake that took root over the years, because the Crusader fortress, whose implied remains are revealed here, was generally called "La Detroe Fortress".
Now say out loud "Karta" and also "La Detroe".
There are similarities?
No.
But does it really matter?

Where can you see them?

Great point to look at.

The flamingo comes from Iran and stops here
This short and endearing hike will meet you with an abundance of beautiful spots, which appear one after the other, alongside scenic views that look their best at dusk.
In general, the evening hours are the best kept secret of summer travelers.
You know.
The first point you will reach is also one of the most impressive: the water pool lookout.
Here, at the top of a kurkar hill, stands a light-colored concrete structure that looks like a place that every human being would be happy to climb.
Climb, and also spend a long time in front of the view: the sea on the one hand and the Carmel on the other, including Zichron Yaacov and pieces from Haifa.
And of course, you can not ignore the mighty Atlit Fortress, which is in front of you and closed to visitors.
From here you descend to the remains of the Crusader fortress, which was built in 1103. Why was it built here?
For this was where the convoy of King Baldwin I was attacked.
The caravan was attacked, the ego was damaged - and the fortress was built.
In this area you can hide from the world in abandoned stables hewn in the kurkar rock, and from here go out and explore up close the most crooked carob trees you have ever seen in your life.
A real tribute to the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
This is due to the strong westerly wind blowing here non-stop from the sea.
And in between, the tall ore pillars, which move in the wind and are the excuse for everything.
Another amazing thing that can be seen these days are the flamingo bands in the salt ponds near Atlit, which come here in the autumn migration from Turkey and Iran, and some of them stay here (in Atlit and Eilat) all year round.
Photographer Yehiel Oknin, who visited the pools this week, sent us insane photos of the bird that feeds on small crabs called Artemia, which also give it the pink color in adulthood.

To know:
Finally, it is recommended to skip on foot or by car to the beautiful beach north of Atlit Fortress, and indulge in quiet (especially on weekdays).
Make an impression on the guys:
In ancient times, the berry plant was used to mark boundaries between agricultural plots.
This is due to its two advantages: its strong roots that make it very difficult to uproot it, and also its great toxicity, which prevents animals from devouring it and disappearing from the area.
Eat in the area:
You can grab something quick at the "Mall by the Sea" near the Limor parking lot, or hop to the Nili restaurant in Zichron Yaacov.
Arrive:
"Limor Parking" in Wise.
Camp in the "Limor parking lot", where there are picnic tables and plenty of shade.
From here begins a marked path that ascends to the observation pool west of you.
You can walk for it on a circumferential route of about two kilometers, or just walk and return to the starting point when you feel like it.
