(ANSA) - LONDON, SEPTEMBER 10 - Diana Rigg, a British actress known for her roles in hugely successful television series such as The Avengers and more recently (in the role of Olenna Tyrell) as Game of Thrones, has died at 82, but above all for being the only Mrs. Bond in one of the 007 saga films (1969's On Her Majesty's Secret Service).
The news was confirmed to the BBC by her daughter Rachael Stirling, actress too.
Dame Dana, as she was called in the United Kingdom after receiving the decoration of the Order of the Former British Empire from the Queen, with an attached title, has surrendered to cancer that was diagnosed last March. "She has spent the last few months happily reflecting on her extraordinary life, full of love, smiles and a deep pride in her profession," said Rachel Stirling. (HANDLE).
