The big winner is Germany - more than 45 percent of those surveyed stated that they had spent their summer vacation in their own country.

An evaluation of the booking portal HomeToGo has already shown that interest in travel within Germany has increased enormously.

Almost half (

48 percent

) enjoyed the sun on the beach, almost one in three (32 percent) went on a city trip, closely followed by nature lovers - one in four (25 percent) spent their vacation in the mountains.

Surprising: Despite Corona, cancellations and monetary losses are low

were very few cancellations

Almost 64 percent of those surveyed stated that their trip had not been canceled and could take place as planned.

Parts of the trip were canceled in just under 11 percent, while 26 percent were unable to take the trip.

A good 71 percent of Germans stated that they had not lost any money due to rebooking or cancellations.

Almost one in ten lost up to 200 euros

, eight percent of those surveyed lost between 200 and 400 euros.

Only one fifth received a voucher or is currently waiting for a refund.

Travel plans of the Germans: Positive outlook for the rest of the vacation year 2020

More than one in two (54 percent) are planning another trip this year -

78 percent

would like to do this in September or October.
