Covid-19: 42 departments now classified in red

42 departments are now classified as "virus circulation zone", announced Jean Castex this Friday after a Defense Council.

However, the Prime Minister did not specify which were the 14 territories which were added to the 28 departments until then in red.

A department is classified as a "ZCA" by government decision when the health situation worsens.

"An area of ​​active circulation of the virus is characterized mainly by an incidence rate greater than 50 and an unfavorable epidemic dynamic", explained a few days ago to the Parisian the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

Various indicators are examined initially, then the authorities carry out "an assessment of the epidemiological profile of each territory on the basis of these various indicators".

Strong measures expected in Marseille and Bordeaux

According to these criteria, and according to the most recent data from Public Health France, Loire-Atlantique and Ille-et-Vilaine could turn red, among others.

A decree published in the Official Journal has yet to formalize this measure in the coming days.
