(ANSA) - PARIS, 11 SEPT - We must "avoid a generalized lockdown". This was said by the French premier, Jean Castex, announcing the new measures against the coronavirus in France.
Castex however added that 42 departments are in red alert, i.e. where the virus is actively circulating.
"This ranking - he explained - does not involve automatic consequences but allows the prefect in coordination with the health authorities and local representatives to adopt additional risk reduction measures, in particular on the use of the mask, gatherings in public spaces, large events or opening hours of some shops ". The premier also reported that he had asked the prefecticians involved to propose "new complementary measures by Monday".
