(ANSA) - MILAN, 11 SEPTEMBER - With Verdi's 'La Traviata' on Tuesday 15 September the opera returns to La Scala, albeit in concert form.
Conductor Zubin Mehta, debut with this opera in the Piermarini hall, at the age of 84;
a company that focuses on Marina Rebeka in the part of Violetta, AtallaAyan in that of Alfredo and Leo Nucci in the role of father Germont.
A cast that, in the historical show of LilianaCavani, La Scala should have taken on tour in Japan and "even before in India - underlines the Indian Mehta, who recently defeated a kidney tumor - before Covids disrupted any program".
So the tour was canceled and 'La Traviata' now has the task of reopening the opera performances at La Scala, albeit in concert form. But not that usual form with the singers who sit waiting for their turn and get up in front of the lectern to sing their aria: at La Scala they have covered the space of the traditional orchestra pit and on that advanced stage the singers, even with the support of some furniture, will have way of mentioning the most significant stage movements.
"The essential ones - explains superintendent Dominique Meyer - to make the viewer understand the story better, but without reaching the most intimate effusions between the protagonists: Alfredon in the third act will embrace Violetta on her deathbed but without getting to kiss her". (HANDLE).
