The week ends (Friday is the last day that data is published) with the worst figures of the second wave, with 12,183 cases reported in 24 hours, a new maximum that exceeds 1,419 on Thursday, which was also a record.

It is a strong rise in two consecutive days, which threatens to break a slower growth that had been registered during the previous days.

Any interpretation of a specific day is subject to many variations that make it impossible to know if we are facing trends or are simple saw teeth.

In any case, if you zoom in to analyze the incidence weekly or in the last 14 days, the figures are also bad.

Spain reaches its highest incidence since the beginning of the pandemic: 238.94 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last two weeks.

This happens because in March and April only a small part was recorded: now at least six times more tests are carried out than in spring, so it is to be assumed that, with data similar to the current ones, the real magnitude of the disease was also at least six times higher.

It is something that is evident when observing the number of hospitalizations.

In the first wave, Health did not give detailed figures of the occupation, but the system collapsed, or was on the brink, in many autonomous communities.

Now, although the pressure is increasing, the number of beds for covid patients is 7.5%, although it varies greatly by autonomous community.

As in the rest of the metrics, Madrid takes the worst part: it accumulates almost a third of the 53,158 new diagnoses this week and the occupation of patients with coronavirus in its hospitals is 18%.

Some hospitals in the capital already have to postpone non-urgent operations so as not to compromise the capacity of the ICUs.

In them, throughout Spain there are 1,124 people because of the coronavirus.

Madrid has also broken this Friday a record of new positives in one day: 4,195.

Its cumulative incidence is 550.26 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, very close to what Aragon reached in mid-August, when it reached its peak.

The good news would be that he managed to reverse it.

Of course, weeks after implementing social restrictions equivalent to those that Madrid imposed last Monday.

After Madrid, the highest incidence is in the Basque Country (370), La Rioja (367) and Melilla (316).

On the opposite side is Asturias (59.8).

In Europe, only France has in recent days figures similar to Spain but, although its incidence is growing rapidly, it is still far behind: 131.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

In general, the virus is growing across the continent, although other countries still have much lower figures: Portugal (49.2).

United Kingdom (39.7), Italy (29.4), Germany (19.1).
