The Minister of the Interior wants to reduce the “number of injured during the demonstrations”.
Visiting this September 11 in Vélizy-Villacoublay, Gérald Darmanin announced that he wanted to “evolve the doctrine” of “the use of the LBD” which will henceforth be used under the responsibility of “a supervisor”.
This new authority will be responsible, from Saturday, to identify the targets and to authorize the firing of rubber bullets responsible for numerous mutilations, during the demonstrations of yellow vests.
The Minister of the Interior also announced the withdrawal of the GMD de-encircling grenade which will be replaced by a model offering "less projections in height". This new explosive projectile is likely to cause fewer injuries among demonstrators. The rubber blocks projected by the GMD during the explosion have already stunned several demonstrators or even a passer-by on September 15, 2016 during a demonstration against the Labor Law.
