Ana was National Oil Queen in 1957. She was paraded around the city surrounded by princesses, applauded by the people.

A few days later she arranged to meet a young man at a dance.

In that place, Hector was also and in the same situation: he was waiting for a date.

They looked at each other.

Héctor went and "planted" himself next to her.

They never parted again.

Ana Cortés and Héctor Pesic made their lives, a life alone.

Thus began the love story of more than 60 years.

And that had an end point that nobody expected:

Hector died this Saturday afternoon.

They admitted him for his pre-existing ailments, but the coronavirus was added.

Doctors had anticipated that his condition was irreversible.

For this reason, Ana and her entire family tirelessly asked that Héctor not leave alone.

"We don't want that to happen,

my grandmother has to be with him

,"

Macarena, one of his five grandchildren,

told

Clarín

this Saturday at noon.

But it could not be.

Although this Friday, due to the repercussion of the case on social networks, it had been anticipated that Ana could see her husband, the Zonal Hospital of Comodoro Rivadavia informed them that it

does not have the means or the logistics

to implement the protocol that allows the woman accompany him.

Héctor was 88 years old.

Ana 84 and, therefore, is a risk patient.

And also close contact, although it is not yet known if he was infected.

On one of the many trips together.

Ana and Héctor always together.

“I got really mad at first.

They made us spin around everywhere.

One would send us to see another.

Nobody wanted to tell us what was happening.

And most of the communications were by phone.

But I wanted someone to tell me how they are, looking into my eyes.

I finally understood the head of the service.

Doctors do what they can.

What happens is the fault of corruption.

Of the governments that are not up to the task.

That they do not know about people's pain.

Mine is a fight that is mixed with a sadness that cannot be overcome.

My grandparents are everything to me and to the whole family, "said the young woman, 30, before the least expected outcome.

Héctor had four children with Ana: Mariela, Fabián, Horacio and Javier.

Javier lives in Bariloche, and he was still

fighting to be able to travel

.

The whole family goes through a moment of deep anguish.

They remember Ana's years as a teacher.

And of Héctor as manager of LADE, for which she became a well-known and loved person in Comodoro Rivadavia.

“My grandmother is not well.

I don't think it falls.

And that she still has not lost hope of being with the one who is the love of all her life, "said Macarena.

Since they cannot be by his side,

the family recorded a video

that the nurses made him listen to.

They said that, despite his condition, Héctor shook his head, made some gestures.

“Now we are recording some messages for him, maybe they will reach him.

We do not know what to do".

The granddaughter remarked that “here there is a

clear negligence

of the Government.

If they were properly prepared, the story would be different.

If she has to die now or whenever, she doesn't deserve to die alone.

That single idea fills us with great anguish ”.

With his great-grandchildren.

"They are her madness," says her granddaughter.

Héctor fights to live.

His wife couldn't fire him.

Héctor already had complicated health problems.

But to that unexpectedly the coronavirus was added.

Because when he was admitted it was for his ailments, and no one thought he could get infected with covid.

“It was something of a surprise for us when they gave us the result.

Is that they did the tests for a matter of protocol, and they tested positive.

It is true that the coronavirus becomes something else when they give it a first and last name.

And much more when it comes to someone you love,

"added Macarena.

Héctor and Ana also have two great-grandchildren: “They are the madness of their lives,” Macarena said, her voice breaking.

“I can tell you that before we had to admit him, my grandparents looked at each other deeply.

It was a look of lovers.

His eyes denounced them.

Together they lived a beautiful life.

They traveled all over the world.

We were always together.

It is not possible that now, at this time, they separate.

If he has to die, he doesn't have to die just because we all died a little. "

By carriage.

When Ana was the national oil queen.

Macarena has not seen her grandfather for four weeks.

Remember that she always thanked him for giving her great-grandchildren.

“They were always joking.

My grandmother told her that that night of the dance 'You screwed up my life'.

And he replied that "On the contrary, I made you happy."

And they ended with those hugs that are unmistakable: they

convey love

. "

Your granddaughter's letter

Upon learning of Héctor's death, Micaela released a letter in which she fired her grandfather.

This is the text:

Darling black people would say, but for my 'Grandfather', with a hoarse voice;

with a pintusa that few could carry with his height;

a winner, I apologized but you took the heart of the Commodore Oil Queen and what a Queen, MY grandmother;

the best silver hide-away, always on the back with the "go baby you buy yourself, don't say anything to grandma" or "Ana give the baby what she wants";

the grandfather with the most comfortable legs to rest on for countless hours;

the one who best convinced mother to let us go to the grandparents' house at any time and the one who would look for us at any time and when I say anyone, that's the way it was.

My Grandfather, the one with the purest, most sincere hugs, with millions of capricious to be fulfilled.

The airline manager who proudly told me every time he had the opportunity, and he who told me "daughter, the plane is the safest transport, if one day you see a worried flight attendant, then there, worry", the one who knows me You may have heard me tell you, is that my grandfather's phrase gives me the peace of mind of getting on a plane without fear.

I have the best grandfather in the world, the most warrior, the best husband for my grandmother, her best partner.

My point of persistence, he knew about pains, he suffered them all his life but I enjoy life fully, as if it would never have to end.

But everything ends, and we all deserve to leave without suffering, there are times that if we believe that there is a God, he should be as just as possible, not with one who will always want to stay by the side of the person we love, but precisely with her to let her rest in peace.

My black, my grandfather, how the soul hurts, how that hug that I couldn't give you hurts, that last grandmother's coffee with milk together, how the loss of a grandfather hurts and above all that of MY grandfather, the one who made roasts in the fifth for 50 people, he approached my sister and me and said "and baby, what bit do you want?"

Or the one who bought me churros on the beach and took me to the pedestrian to McDonald's in Mar del Plata ... oh Negro, how bad.

Damn kilometers, damn coronavirus for not letting me give the BEST GRANDFATHER IN THE WORLD the last hug.

One thing I ask of you, take care of Grandma, give her strength, you take 61 shared years with you, and hug her for me every night every time they dream because I'm going to long for her hug, crossing out the days on a calendar until it is damn Pandemic is over.

Grandfather, here is your granddaughter (how did you call me) fulfilling her dreams, learning to grow up and bear so much pain with your departure.

Here I am loving you immensely like 28 years ago.

THANK YOU for being the best Grandfather in the world, I hope you can read every sentence that I wrote through tears.

I fought as far as we could, Grandpa, forgive me for not being able to take you to Grandma.

You didn't deserve this ending alone.

Rest in peace.

I love you, Mica.

Chubut.
