“We just saw an emotional hearing where people tried to kill George Floyd a second time.
On leaving court, Ben Crump, the lawyer for the Floyd family denounced the statements of the police officers implicated in his death during a preliminary hearing at the trial on Friday.
The four men demanded that the charges against them be dropped while the lawyer for Derek Chauvin, charged with murder, assured that George Floyd had "probably died of a fentanyl overdose."
"The only overdose that killed George Floyd was an overdose of excessive force and racism by the Minneapolis, Minnesota Police Department," said the family lawyer.

Despite their common demands, the four defendants asked to be tried separately.
The prosecution pleads for a single trial, so as not to increase the trauma of relatives and the cost for the taxpayer.
