Somewhere at the end of the world, or rather in the southwest Pacific lies the small island nation of Vanuatu.
Like quite a few countries around the world, Vanuatu got into a very difficult economic situation and in order to get out of it, she decided to offer anyone who wanted, to get local citizenship for 130 thousand dollars.
Today more than ever, citizenship of another country and especially of a country like Vanuatu, a country that is considered green with one of the lowest morbidity rates in the world, can help those who hold it enter almost anywhere in the world.
The authorities in Vanuatu do not deny and admit that the sale was intended to rehabilitate the economic situation.
Senior officials in the country even emphasize the benefits of retaining citizenship such as studying in different countries around the world, free entry with few destinations and more.
The state has allocated 300 citizenships for sale, appealing mainly to those who do not hold any citizenship.
According to ABC, it is estimated that there are about ten million people in the world who do not hold the citizenship of any country.
It is doubtful whether those same people will be able to pay such sums for the citizenship of Vanuatu.
Various countries around the world may not accept the decision of Vanuatu as it may cause quite a few problematic cases and especially during the Corona period as citizens of red states with citizenship of Vanuatu will be able to enter green states even though they have never visited the small island state.
