One meter long, weighing around 60 kilograms: a giant tortoise with this body size has been up to mischief on a terrace in Brandenburg an der Havel.
The owner of the house to which the terrace belongs discovered the animal on Saturday afternoon.
By then it had knocked over a table and chairs.
The man called the police, who came along with the fire department.
The emergency services first cornered the "very active" turtle and built a temporary enclosure for it.
Then they requested an officially appointed animal catcher.
"The recovery of the heavy, unwieldy animal in preparation for the transport demanded a lot from the comrades," said the police report.
In the end, however, the uninjured turtle was able to be "placed without resistance or attempted escape" and "suitably housed".
In the evening, her owner then turned to the police to report the animal as missing.
"He was overjoyed when he was informed that his spurred tortoise was captured unharmed," the police wrote.
The table and chairs that the giant turtle had knocked over on the terrace that was not home remained undamaged.
