(ANSA) - VATICAN CITY, SEPTEMBER 13 - The Pope at the Angelus has launched an appeal to the governments of the world to listen to the protests of their fellow citizens.

"While I urge the demonstrators to present their claims in a peaceful manner without yielding to the temptation of aggression and violence, I appeal to all those with public and self-governing responsibilities to listen to the voice of their fellow citizens and to meet their just aspirations, ensuring the full respect for human rights and civil liberties ".

Then the pontiff expressed "solidarity and closeness" to refugees on the Greek island of Lesbos, recalling the fires that devastated the Moria camp "leaving thousands of people without a refuge, albeit a precarious one". Pope Francis recalled his visit to the island and the appeal launched in that place so that "a human and dignified welcome to migrant women and men, refugees, asylum seekers in Europe is ensured. I express solidarity with and closeness to all the victims of these dramatic events. ". (HANDLE).
