(ANSA) - BEIJING, SEPTEMBER 14 - Chinese President Xi Jinpingha "confirmed" in the virtual summit with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, EU Council President Charles Michel and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, "accelerated" talks on the the investment treaty with the aim of closing the negotiations by 2020.
This was reported by the Xinhua agency, adding that the meeting allowed to reach "decisions" on the creation of high-level dialogues on climate and digital.
In his speech, Xi insisted on the "4 perseverances": peaceful coexistence, openness and cooperation;
multilateralism;
finally, dialogue and consultations.
"Europe must be a player, not a playing field. We have taken a step forward towards a more balanced relationship with China. In some areas we are on the right path, in others we still have to go. There are differences, but we are ready to work. We want an economic relationship based on reciprocity, responsibility ".
