Seventy-nine departments are now in a situation of moderate or high vulnerability, according to Public Health France.

After crossing the 10,000 case mark the day before, the number of new infections recorded stood at 6,158 in 24 hours, according to data released Monday by Public Health France.

A drop to which we must avoid giving too much significance, the number of new cases counted on Monday being generally lower than the previous days.

Last Monday, 4,203 cases had been identified.

A very slight decrease is also to be noted on the side of the positivity rate, that is to say (the proportion of the number of people tested positive in relation to the total number of people tested).

It is now 5.3%, against 5.4% the day before.

79 departments are currently in a situation of moderate or high vulnerability.

At the same time, 39 new clusters were detected in the country.

In all, 852 clusters are under investigation, including 115 in nursing homes.

As a reminder, these outbreaks of infection include "at least three confirmed or probable cases, in a period of seven days", according to the definition given by Public Health France.

As for hospitals, the number of patients entering intensive care has increased further, with 448 new patients hospitalized in the last 7 days.

More broadly, 2,561 new hospitalizations were recorded during the past week.
