(ANSA) - TOKYO, 14 SEPTEMBER - Japan is confirmed as one of the countries with the highest rate of longevity, not only for men but also for animals.
In fact, lives in the prefecture of Wakayama, west of the archipelago, in the Adventure World zoo, the oldest captive panda in the world - named Eimei - who today celebrated his 28th birthday, equivalent to over 80 human years.
Born in Beijing and then moved to Japan, in 2014 Eimeiera was already recognized as the oldest captive panda in the world capable of procreating. Since 1994 the mammal has conceived 15 cubs, 11 of which have been returned to China. A trend that does not seem to experience slowdowns with age: according to the direction of the zoo, the next 'offspring' are expected this autumn with the usual partner 8 years younger.
For the occasion, the zoo offered the panda a cake made with ice and bamboo decorations as a wish for longevity and prosperity. (HANDLE).
