The "Guignols de l'Info", arrested in France in June 2018, will resurrect in the United States on Thursday, October 1, with a dozen characters.

That day, the Fox channel will broadcast for the first time "Let's Be Real", the American adaptation of the cult satirical program of Canal +.

It will be a special evening, to test the concept with the public.

In the event of an audience success on this leading channel with audiences aged 18 to 49, it could be available in series.

The project, announced in June 2019 by Fox president Michael Thorn, had been entrusted to comedian Robert Smigel, former headliner of Saturday Night Live, the legendary NBC show, without anyone knowing if it would succeed.

"We have been developing the format for two years with the American production company Propagate," specifies Gérald-Brice Viret, director of antennas and content for the Canal + group, still owner of the legendary program launched in France in 1988. "The negotiations have gone on. started at MIPCOM (International Audiovisual Content Market) in Cannes two years ago, and this outcome today is recognition of all the work accomplished at Canal + in the past.

The American format will be longer than the program symbolizing the "Canal spirit": 22 minutes, compared to ten minutes in France, where it is rebroadcast in prime time every Tuesday evening on Comédie +, the French channel. humor of the encrypted group, and available on the MyCanal platform.

"We hope that it will work as well as in France and that it will become a recurring program in the United States, which we can also export to several countries," he continues.

This sale of rights will allow Canal + to rake in some financial income from derivative products, but above all to broadcast this American version on its antennas - subtitled for the occasion - during its special “American presidential election” week on the 26th. October.

In 2018, the show of sketches invented in France by Alain de Greef and Alain Duverne had lowered the curtain, after a final "A Tchao good evening", audiences at half mast, a change of formula and a temporary passage in encrypted, on background conflict between the artistic teams and the management of Vincent Bolloré's group.
