Dieselgate: Pe, EU tests on car emissions only on the road

From 2022, only road tests will be used to measure nitrogen oxide emissions from cars, without technical parameters that allow them to be equated with those in the laboratory. (HANDLE)

(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, SEPTEMBER 16 - From 2022 to measure nitrogen oxide emissions from cars only road tests will be used, without technical parameters that allow them to be equated with those in the laboratory.

It is the consequence of the modification proposed by the European Parliament on the new regulation on emissions of cars and vans (Euro5 and Euro6).

Given that the EU, following the Dieselgate scandal, is the first in the world to have introduced road-driving tests, the European Commission had proposed a 'compliance factor' to equalize results on the road and in the laboratory in the event of technical difficulties. It is a "license to cheat" for the President of the Environment Commission of the European Parliament PascalCanfin, who with the other MEPs asks for the elimination of the parameter in question by 2022. The European Parliament will have to find a compromise in the negotiations with the Commission and the EU Council. (HANDLE).
