The movement of September 17 will have little impact on the circulation of public transport and rail, assured the RATP and SNCF.

It is

"a national day of action"

for which the unions are preparing on Thursday, September 17th.

About ten days earlier, the CGT-Cheminots filed a strike notice, before being joined by the FSU, Solidaires, youth organizations as well as the CGT-RATP.

"The issue of employment is central: fight against insecurity and poverty, increase in wages, development of public services, final abandonment of the pension reform"

, defended the seven organizations in a joint statement.

Faced with the coronavirus epidemic, they require in particular a reduction in working time

"without loss of salary"

, as well as free masks for middle school, high school and college students.

A rally is scheduled at Place de la République at 2 p.m.

The notice extends from Wednesday evening at 10 p.m. to Friday morning at 7:55 a.m.

However, the movement should have only a slight impact on public transport and the rail network, assured RATP and SNCF.

The latter, in fact, indicated on Tuesday 16 in a press release, that traffic would be "normal on the entire network".

"What is this strike for?"

This is also what had declared, the day before on Europe 1, the Minister in charge of Transport, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, assuring that the strike will be

"rather small scale"

and qualifying the movement of

"illegible"

while the government announced a support package of 5 billion euros for rail transport as part of the recovery plan.

"What is this strike at the SNCF for?"

What are the objectives ?

Why is the CGT calling today for a strike at the SNCF and what will it improve for the railway workers, ”

the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le, asked for his part. Mayor.

"I find it hard to understand that we are launching a strike call at the SNCF when we have just paid off

35 billion euros in

SNCF

debt

and everyone knows (...) that there is will have in the recovery plan - the Prime Minister will specify it next week -, massive investments in rail transport, ”

he added the day after the call to strike.
