In the investigation into the spectacular theft of jewels from the Dresden treasury museum Grünes Gewölbe 2019, another clue leads to Berlin.

According to the Dresden public prosecutor, commercial premises in the capital were searched on September 9 and on Wednesday.

"We are confident that we can identify the perpetrators, and that is a further step towards this," said a spokesman for the Dresden public prosecutor's office.

Business documents and data have been secured in several companies in which vehicles are covered with film.

There is a suspicion that the getaway car used for the coup and later set on fire was visually changed.

The investigators currently assume that the contractors did not know the purpose.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the company owners are not suspect, they were questioned as witnesses.

Now the investigators hope for clues to possible clients of the foiling in the evidence - and a lead to the jewel thieves.

On September 2, an internet café in Berlin-Neukölln and the apartment of an employee there were searched.

The material seized there is still being evaluated.

The Soko "Epaulette" assumes that the man sold the perpetrators SIM cards registered on fictitious personal data or gave them to the café for distribution.

The SIM cards in question were used for communication during the preparation and execution of the coup.

Investigators assume at least seven perpetrators

On the morning of November 25, 2019, two strangers entered the famous museum in Dresden's residential palace through one of the barred windows.

In the jewel room they smashed the showcase with the most precious pieces of jewelery with an ax, they stole historical diamonds and brilliants of inestimable value.

The break-in lasted only a few minutes and made international headlines.

So far there is no trace of the thieves and the loot.

The police and the public prosecutor assume that there are at least seven perpetrators - and that the break-in has been prepared for a long time.

A reward of half a million euros is offered for clues leading to the apprehension of the perpetrator.

So far, almost 1,300 reports have been received, and four museum guards are under investigation.

Possible parallels to the gold coin theft from the Berlin Bode Museum 2017 were also examined.

This did not result in any approaches leading to the identification of the Dresden perpetrators.

In the Berlin trial at the beginning of 2020, two members of an Arab clan and a security guard from the museum were convicted
