The coronavirus pandemic has

been in the world for 10

months and in Argentina for six and a half months.

What are the data to be optimistic about what is happening with the pandemic?

Clarín

reviewed the global scenario that the disease presents today:

1-

Although the planet already has 30.5 million people infected with Covid-19, more than 22 million have recovered, which represents

72 percent.

This recovery means a large number of people who already have antibodies against the coronavirus.

Re-infections so far have been sporadic and mild.

2-

Active cases are

just over 7 million

, which represents

24.2 percent

of the total.

This is what, beyond the total figures, gives a true dimension to the pandemic: the number of the population that actually has the virus today.

3-

The world number of deaths is

953 thousand

, which represents

3.1 percent

of the total.

This proportion has been decreasing over the course of the pandemic.

In recent months, and as the pandemic was running away from the initial European tragedy, the fatality rate dropped.

4-

Of the

7 million active cases

, only

61 thousand

are in critical condition, which represents 1 percent of the total.

This is another key piece of information: the low number of patients, of all those infected in the world, who are at serious risk of death.

5-

The

80 percent

of the countries of the world have passed the peak of the coronavirus.

This implies that the pandemic is becoming increasingly concentrated, in volume in a handful of countries and little by little the global curve is losing strength.

6-

The

outbreaks

have occurred in some specific places on the planet, but for now the second waves are softer than the first.

In general terms, nations that have experienced these situations have targeted younger populations and, therefore, lower fatality rates.

7-

Today there are between

5 and 6 thousand deaths

from coronavirus every 24 hours in the world.

In April and July there were peaks of more than

9,700.

This data is key and accounts for the previous point: the number of daily infected did not drop too much and is around 300 thousand in the world every 24 hours;

however, there are fewer deaths because people who are infected are less vulnerable to the virus.

8-

In Argentina, the metropolitan area is leaving behind the worst of the pandemic after six months of quarantine.

Both the curve of the Federal Capital and that of the Conurbano is showing a decline.

9-

The level of recovered in Argentina is above the world average:

77 percent

.

And the fatality level rose but is still below the global average:

2.07 percent.

10-

There are six vaccines in

phase 3

of tests with chances of becoming the antidote to stop the pandemic.

One is manufactured in Argentina and three others are tested in the country.
