If there is anyone who benefits from this whole matter of quarantine - it is nature.

After many months of using disposable utensils, nylon gloves and plastic products because of the corona, nature can "rejoice" and rest from the much garbage that has accumulated in the country, and certainly the one that remains in the field, which is a shame.

On Rosh Hashana and the week of Sukkot, hundreds of thousands of Israelis were expected to visit the various nature reserves and sites, but the closure prevents this.

Two hours into the closure yesterday (Friday), we set out less than a kilometer walk from the settlement of Mitzpe Hila in the Western Galilee, to the most beautiful and hiking stream in the country - Nahal Kaziv - to check the condition of the river that is busiest during the summer and holidays.

During the holidays, there is no chance that you will find it empty of people.

Truth be told, we were pleasantly surprised.

We found one family in Ein Haredlit - the spring that promotes the entrance to the Nahal Kziv reserve to the west - and another pair of water at the entrance to the reserve.

The water is clear and cool, and no floating bottles or garbage were seen around (Photo: Ziv Reinstein)

Beyond that, the creek was desolate and there were hardly any garbage bags or garbage to be seen in the area.

We actually saw a light blue corona mask at two points, and another bag of garbage and a can that were hidden behind a bush.

The animals were almost the only creatures in the place.

Nahal Kziv begins in the area of Mount Meron and flows west for more than 40 km. Part of the stream (especially the last one) is a disappointing stream, but in its center it collects several springs, such as Ein Ziv and Ein Tamir, which provide it with a good amount of water. all year long.

As is well known, it is currently not possible to walk in the river due to the closure, but when it ends, Nahal Kziv offers a variety of routes, short and long, which include a visit to the Monfort Fortress, or an observation of Goren Park, as well as refreshing dips with very little walking.
