(ANSA) - ROME, SEPTEMBER 18 - Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom could be the next CEO of TikTok.

The New York Times writes, according to which Systrom would have had "preliminary talks" to direct the activities of the app which, in these hours, is awaiting the verdict of the White House on the partnership with Oracle.

The chair of CEO of TikTok has been vacant since late last month, when Kevin Mayer resigned due to political pressure related to the role due to the clash between Washington and Beijing.

At the moment the interim CEO is Vanessa Pappas, general manager of TikTok for North America.

Systrom stepped down as CEO of Instagram in September 2018 along with the other founder of the app, Mike Krieger. At the base of the decision, according to press rumors, there would have been a clash over the autonomy of the platform compared to Facebook, which acquired Instagram in 2012. (ANSA).
