(ANSA) - ROME, SEPTEMBER 20 - Buried more than 2,500 years ago and never opened since then, 27 sarcophagi have been brought to light by archaeologists in an ancient Egyptian necropolis.
The tomb was found inside a well in a sacred site in Saqqara, a burial site active for more than 3,000 years and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The discovery, reports the BBC, is considered by experts to be one of the largest of its kind.
Public photographs show well-preserved wooden coffins painted in bright colors and other smaller artifacts.
