Another eleven small boats, with about 300 migrants on board, were rescued in the last few hours in Lampedusa where a record number of 26 landings was reached in the space of 24 hours, more than one per hour.
Even the last small boats were spotted by the Sar units of the Coast Guard which carried out the transhipments off the island and led all the migrants to the Favarolo pier.
In the hotspot of the Imbriacola district, a thousand presences have been exceeded against a capacity of 192 seats.
Counting of migrants is still ongoing.
