This morning, the Soulages Museum reopens its doors to the public.
Following several cases of Covid-19, contracted outside the museum by reception and surveillance agents, the Rodez museum had to close on September 6.
After the fortnight, he can finally present
Painting 324 × 181 cm, January 19, 1997
, a major piece donated to the museum by the collector and gallery owner from Paris and Cologne, Karsten Greve.
Friend of the painter, this connoisseur has personally donated this work estimated at a minimum of 3 million euros.
This is the first donation of a Soulages by an individual since the opening in May 2014 of his museum.
He joined the
Outrenoir
room
the new exhibition orchestrated by its director, Benoît Decron.
The painter, who has already well endowed his museum, made a new donation in July to his hometown, including a large canvas painting from 2019, the year of his 100 years.
