From a group of ten, Nazi slogans were shouted in Wuppertal and passers-by were attacked.
As the police and prosecutors announced, the incident occurred on Saturday shortly before midnight.
Local residents had previously informed the police about the drunk group.
Accordingly, the personal details of six men and four women were determined.
According to the police, the accused were sent off and a complaint was made for incitement to hatred.
The group apparently moved on and attacked two men
With the police operation around 11.45 p.m., the group's hustle and bustle was apparently not over.
At 1:10 a.m., the police were alerted again after a 41-year-old man came across a group of people in the area of the Kluse and was knocked down from behind.
A few minutes later, a 62-year-old with a migration background was apparently also attacked.
In addition, several cars were smeared with swastikas.
"Since the witnesses were able to describe some of the people who appeared on site precisely, the suspicion arose that they might be the people who had already been checked," said the police.
Three men and one woman from this group were found in front of a nearby restaurant immediately after the attack on the 62-year-old and were provisionally arrested, it said.
According to the investigators, a 27-year-old man from Wuppertal is responsible for the attack.
According to the police, the accused are being investigated on suspicion of sedition, property damage and dangerous bodily harm; if convicted, they face six months to ten years in prison.
The suspects have been released for lack of grounds for detention.
The state security determined.
