In a sky-blue sweater framed by rose-colored bouquets of roses, actress and entrepreneur Gwyneth Paltrow asked a well-known colleague in a video interview: Drew Barrymore started his own talk show on the CBS station in September in the middle of the corona pandemic and invited Paltrow.
The subject of the interview was the question of how to bring up children after a divorce.
This is possible if you are radically accountable, said Paltrow.
About yourself and your ex-partner.
"Every relationship is 50:50," said the 47-year-old.
Nobody is just good or bad.
If both can manage to take responsibility for their own half, a lot will be gained.
But for this you have to face your own trauma, your own "garbage".
She and her ex-husband Chris Martin had sought the help of a therapist for this process.
Paltrow was married to the British musician Martin from 2003 to 2016.
The couple have two children, daughter Apple, 16, and son Moses, 14. According to Paltrow, their relationship with Martin is better today than it was during the marriage.
"We have this idea that after a breakup we can no longer love the things we once loved about each other, but that's not true."
End a marriage but stay part of a family.
During the separation and divorce, one thing was particularly important to her: "I didn't want my children to be traumatized".
The joint upbringing with Martin does not always work perfectly.
"We have good and bad days, but it works because we always want the best for the children."
