The 15th edition of the Economy Festival was inaugurated at the Teatro Sociale di Trento.

The opening event, moderated by the journalist Maria Concetta Mattei, saw the participation of the new mayor of Trento, Franco Ianeselli, the rector of the University of Trento, Paolo Collini, the publisher Giuseppe Laterza, and the economists Tito Boeri (director of the Festival) and Innocenzo Cipolletta.

The president of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti, and the research head of Intesa Sanpaolo, Gregorio De Felice, spoke by videoconference.

The theme of the event, like that of the festival edition, is "Environment and growth".

"This 15th edition is a milestone that fills us with pride. We never expected to have to do it in streaming, because the strength of the festival is participation. Today we want to seize the opportunity to reach an ever larger number of people, maintaining the characteristics of openness to the comparison with the public. In 15 years we have produced many ideas, organizing 1,200 events and 60 days of seminars ", said Tito Boeri.

"The theme of the environment was chosen before Covid-19, but the topics we will address in these days will have fertile ground, because with the pandemic we have all seen how individual choices affect everyone", concluded Boeri, who remembered the friend and economist Alberto Alesina, present at numerous editions of the Festival and passed away last May.
