More than 30 years after the death of a boy, the Hanau district court has convicted an alleged sect leader of murder.
It imposed a life sentence on the woman.
The court followed the prosecutor's request.
The indictment accused the 73-year-old before the Hanau district court of murder by failing to kill the then four-year-old and called for a life sentence.
The defense pleaded for acquittal in the proceedings.
She sees a "smear campaign of alleged sect dropouts".
