(ANSA) - NAPLES, SEPTEMBER 24 - The Archaeological Museum of Stabiae is named after Libero D'Orsi, the Indiana Jones of the 1950s who in Castellammare di Stabia (Naples) undertook the rediscovery of the Villas of Stabiae, partially investigated in the Bourbon period, bringing out finds of luxurious villas of otium and villerustiche, from 24 September on display in the Quisisana Palace.
The inauguration of the museum itinerary, accessible to visitors with a 6 euro ticket, showcases frescoes, sculptures, terracotta, tableware, bronze and iron objects, partly already housed in the Stabiano Antiquarium which was set up in the city center but then closed since 1997. The museum's exhibition itinerary, whose scientific project is curated by the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, aims to offer an overall picture of Stabiae and Ager Stabianus from the Archaic age to the eruption of 79 AD (ANSA).
