(ANSA) - NEW YORK, SEPTEMBER 24 - Tom Cruise will go to space in 2021.
The as yet untitled project to shoot a film outside the land borders becomes a reality with the help of Elon Musk.
The extraordinary news has arrived on Twitter.
"It is confirmed - we read - that @CommanderMLA (alias astronaut Michael Lopez-Alegria) will be in command of the CrewDragon mission of @SpaceX @Axiom_Space with director @DougLiman and TomCruise. It remains an empty seat. The launch is expected in the October 2021 ".
The news of a film in space had begun to leak about a month ago and NASA itself had confirmed a collaboration with the actor to make a film about the international space station that orbits about 400 km from Earth.
Last May the choice of DougLiman as director was announced.
Cruise will become the first actor to make an extraterrestrial journey, as will Liman the first director for the company.
