(ANSA) - NEW YORK, 25 SEPTEMBER - "The climate emergency is at the doorstep and we have no time to waste. The response to our existential crisis is rapid, resolute, intensified and solidarity between nations". This was stated by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres at the round table on the bitter climate of the United Nations General Assembly. Recent data shows that greenhouse gas concentrations have reached record levels and worsen climate impacts - fires, hurricanes, air pollution, unprecedented droughts and floods - destroying lives, jobs and businesses. In light of this urgency, the plan has been launched for a world summit on 12 December that will host Guterres and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson with the aim of bringing together world leaders to mobilize climate action.
