A double wall was built into the back seat of the car: During a vehicle inspection in North Rhine-Westphalia on the A61, police officers came across a hiding place with lots of banknotes.

The officers found what they were looking for: during a vehicle inspection in North Rhine-Westphalia, motorway police officers discovered bundled money packages.

It was just under a million euros.

The police had stopped a 43-year-old on Autobahn 61, as the Mönchengladbach police announced.

The man seemed nervous and said no to the question of whether he had narcotics, weapons or sums of money of more than 10,000 euros with him.

A double wall was built into the back seat of the car, in the cavity of which the parcels "with a total weight of several kilos" lay, as the police further announced.

The money was also confiscated, as was the car and several cell phones.

Investigations into suspected money laundering have started.

According to the information, the driver did not comment.
